Music plays an important part at a wedding and when it comes to picking the band that will perform on the evening the wedding you`ll want a versatile group of performers that can entertain a wide age range of people. Brides who are getting married in the north east of England don`t have far to look when they need to find a wedding function band who can provide this facility. A local group can provide wedding music in Newcastle and the North east and they will travel to wedding venues in all parts of this area. Three sets are performed by the wedding band and each one of the separate sets lasts for 45 minutes. What happens in-between the sets you might be wondering? The wedding function band provides a free disco so there is no break in the music. A variety of Wedding Music Newcastle is performed by the band from the 1950s right though to the present day. Grannies and teenagers can dance side by side on the dance floor and get fully into the swing of things. The proceedings can be started with the first dance of the night performed by the bride and groom. They`ll provide the band that performs the Wedding Music Newcastle with a special song that has significant meaning to both of them. What could be more wonderful as you take your first dance together as husband and wife than to have a live band playing your favourite song? Whether it’s “Love Is All Around` or “Unchained Melody` the music will sound magical as it is performed live in front of your guests. Wedding bands seem to add to the sense of the occasion and they are certainly far more entertaining than having a solo DJ. Professional bands can be hired and they will perform 3 individual sets consisting of 45 minutes each. Brides and grooms looking to hire the services of a band will find a suitable group who caters for social functions from North Yorkshire to Tyne and Wear. This four-piece band has been entertaining guests at wedding celebrations for many years and the quality of their music is exceptional. The Dean Solomon Band knows how important it is to cater for guests of all ages at the wedding. A wide age range is often found at social gatherings of this nature and the music will need to reflect this fact. This is why they structure their sets so that the music range covers a number of decades.

I met a friend last night who I had not seen for a long time and it was really great to catch up with her. As soon as we sat down she said she had a big announcement to make and told me that she was getting married this summer. I was absolutely thrilled for her and told her so. She told me that I was invited to the wedding and proceeded to tell me what she and her husband to be had planned for their big day. One of the most unusual things that she told me was that they were going to hire a Function Bands for the evening reception and I was totally intrigued as to what a Function Band was. As she explained, I told her that I thought her idea of a Function Bands was a really brilliant idea. In fact, the plans for the whole wedding seemed to be fantastic and I said that I was really looking forward to it. We had a really great evening together and, although the biggest topic of conversation was her impending wedding, we still managed to catch up on all sorts of gossip about mutual friends that we had not talked about together for a long time.

Charles F Barnes is a music consultant living in the north east of England. The Dean Solomon Band are a function band and they are a top 4 piece professional wedding band north east who provide music for weddings, functions, parties and all events in the North East, North Yorkshire and Co Durham.

Robert James “Bob” Ritchie (born January 17, 1971), known by his stage name Kid Rock, is an American singer-songwriter and rapper with five Grammy Award nominations.

Kid Rock released several studio albums that mostly went unnoticed before his 1998 record Devil Without a Cause, released with Atlantic Records, sold 11 million albums behind the hits, “Bawitdaba”, “Cowboy”, and “Only God Knows Why”.

In 2000, he released The History of Rock which was a compilation of remixed and remastered versions of songs from his previous albums as well as the hit single, “American Bad Ass”.

In 2001, he released the follow up, Cocky. After a slow start, his country-flavored hit “Picture” with Sheryl Crow resurrected the album and it went gold as a single and pushed the album’s sales to more than 5 million. It was followed by 2003′s self-titled release, which failed to chart a major hit. In 2006 he released Live Trucker, a live album.

In 2007 Kid Rock released Rock n Roll Jesus, which produced a hit in “All Summer Long”. It was his first worldwide smash hit, charting #1 in eight countries across Europe and Australia. Rock N Roll Jesus would go on to sell 5 million albums worldwide including being certified triple platinum in the US. He released “Born Free” on November 16, 2010.

He hosted the 2010 CMT Awards and released a digital live EP from his Comerica Park show last year with a free download of “Times Like These” in June as part of a promotion for Jim Beam’s Operation Homefront.

Kid Rock launched and hosted his first annual cruise dubbed the “Chillin’ the Most Cruise”, a call back to his hit “Cowboy”, on April 29, 2010. It ran 4 days through May 3 from Tampa, Florida to the Bahamas. It featured him and several other bands. The cruise was produced by Atlanta based events company, Sixthman.

Kid Rock took some of the wraps off his next album, “Born Free,” during his three-night weekend homestand at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in suburban Detroit, debuting six of the songs and announcing the album’s release date. At which point he revealed that “Born Free”, while originally tipped for Sept. 7, will come out Nov. 16.

The album’s title track was used for TBS’ coverage of the 2010 Major League Baseball playoffs.Kid Rock announced on the VH1 top 20 countdown during an interview with Jim Shearer that he will start touring for the new album after his birthday in 2011.

Kid Rock’s musical style ranges from Midwest hip hop to country rock and rap rock. His influences include Jim Croce, Johnny Cash, Bob Seger, Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Whodini, Too Short, Eric B. & Rakim and Esham.

Twisted Brown Trucker is Kid Rock’s band, formed in 1994 in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The original lineup included Kenny Olson on lead guitar, Uncle Kracker on turntables, Andy Gould and George Metropolous on guitar, Paul Anthony on bass and Bob Ebeling on drums.

The band’s first involvement was on the 1994 demo of “Dark & Gray” on his Bootleg Series Tapes, they would make three more appearances on the tapes in Watch Me Come, Only a Dog and Box #10. Trucker became both Rock’s studio and live band in 1997.

Chris Peters was the studio guitarist for The Polyfuze Method and Fire It Up. Matt O’Brien (Bass) and Kenny Tudrick (Guitar, Drums) were studio musicians for Devil Without a Cause.
Kenny Olson went on to form numerous bands for more creative outlets.

A Pack of Wolves, The Flask, Five Star Carni, The Motorfly’s, and most recent (2010) 7 Day Binge. He has also made appearances on many other recordings such as the song “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know” which can be found on the Les Paul & Friends CD as well as a version of “Little Wing” with Chaka Khan on “The Power of Soul: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix” among numerous others.

Tudrick is with the band Detroit Cobras, who he was with before touring on Kid Rock’s ‘Live’ Trucker tour.Percussionist Larry Frantangelo won a Detroit Music Award in 2009 for Outstanding Urban/Funk Musician.

Strung Out is more than a term for how someone feels; it is also the name of a Simi Valley, California band. This punk rock group began in1992 and is now well known for the way they fuse punk and heavy metal to create their distinctive musical sound. They have stayed with their original label Fat Wreck Chords and have been seen at many live performances including the famous Warped Tours.

The original band lineup for Strung Out was singer Jason Cruz; guitar players Jake Kiley and Rob Ramos; bass player Jim Cherry; and Adam Austin on drums. The Fat Wreck Chords label became immediately interested when they heard the band play. Fans may know that NOFX member, Fat Mike owns this record label.

Brad Morrison replaced Austin in the Strung Out band in 1992 but this was a short stay and then Jordan Burns was brought in to replace Morrison. “Another Day in Paradise” was their first album and it was released in 1994.

This was quickly followed by other albums like “Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues” and “The Skinny Years…Before We Got Fat”. During this time, there was a huge increase in the sales of all types of Strung Out merch including autographed pictures, posters, hats, and hoodies.

Fans were quick to notice that by 1998 their musical style had become more technical and edgier. The group released their latest album “Twisted by Design” which was a bit dark, but still managed to mix in a good amount of faster pop that was similar to songs on the Wasteland Blues album. Strung Out was definitely becoming more abstract and willing to experiment to try out new structure on their tunes.

Chris Aiken joined the group after Cherry left to play with other bands.

Aiken is credited with lending a lot of the influence to the group’s 2000 release of “The Element of Sonic Defiance”. By 2002, Strung Out had released a 4th album, An American Paradox. This was the first one to make it into the Billboard charts. One of the songs on this album was titled, “Cemetery” and the video created for this tune has become a favorite of punk lovers the world over.

The band members were touring with the group Evergreen Terrace during 2007. While performing in Philadelphia PA, their van was stolen, which contained their equipment, tons of Strung Out merch, and many personal items. They continued to perform on tour by borrowing what they needed from Evergreen Terrace and I Am Ghost members who were touring with them.

The group members enjoy life away from the touring circuit. Jason Cruz is an artist, Jordan is part owner of Moto XXX with Erik Sandin, the NOFX drummer. Rob Ramos works with films in California while Jake enjoys normal life and teaching music to others. Their latest release is Prototypes and Painkillers and is due out in spring of 2009, but they are already working on a new album for their fans.
The present Strung Out band members are

• Jason Alexander Cruz – vocals
• Jake Ira Kiley – guitar
• Rob Ramos – guitar
• Chris Aiken – bassist

“Hey Dad, got a minute?”

“Not now, I have to get these emails out.”

“Cool. See you later.”

“Hold on, hold on. . . . what’s up?”

“Nothin’. I’ll catch you later.”

“No, hold up. Lets go for a walk, I need a break. . . . So, what’s up?”

“It’s not a big deal, I was just thinking about college and stuff, I mean, why am I going to college?”

“Why are you going to college? C’mon, what the hell are you talking about? If you don’t, you’ll be working at dead-end jobs you hate for the rest of your life. You know that. Things are getting hairy out there in case you haven’t noticed.”

“Yeah, I been noticing. Lots of people losing their jobs through no fault of their own. And nobody seems to have time for anything important anymore.”

“So what do you mean by that? What do you mean ‘important?‘ Like I love to work my ass off to support you guys? C’mon.

I’d like to hang out in Hawaii too and surf all day. You want to pay the mortgage with your part time job? You gotta get real, Son, you gotta have the right goals.”

“Okay, I’ll get real. Why am I going to college?”

“I just told you. C‘mon.”

“No, I mean, I’ll graduate, probably with honors. I’m pretty smart you know. Give me a goal and I’ll exceed it. It’s easy. I mean, why have goals anyway? You only need goals when you’re not content with what you are or what you have. Right?”

“You’re smart because you got my genes, Son. Here, let‘s sit down on this bench for a minute.”

“Look Dad, what happens after I graduate, after I meet all your goals? I’ll have more goals, I’ll get married, have kids, pay the mortgage like you, and life will be good. But what if we all nuke each other in the meantime, or I accidentally come face to face with a starving baby in Africa? It seems to be coming to that.”

“You can’t worry about something you can’t control.”

“So it’s all out of our control?”

“Look, I can control our life, but I can’t control what other people do.”

“Right.”

“I mean, we do what we can. Let our elected officials worry about those other things, just do ‘your’ job and go to college.”

“I don’t think so, Dad.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“I think I’ll pass on college.”

“Sorry. You’re going to college.”

“What’s the point? College is nothing a but big business now, indoctrinating us to become cogs in the wheels of Wall Street. Who wants to pay off college loans for thirty years? Who wants to participate in continuing this greed that has taken over everything?”

“Are you stupid or something?”

“Dad, look; people have gone to college for generations, and guess what, we’re still killing ourselves over differences in religion, and skin color, and honor, ideals, politics and nationalism. Look at the stupid wars we are in. Maybe I’ll just sit it out and find out what it is inside of me that keeps this bullsh*t going.”

“Just sit it out, huh. And do what? Give up?” Go on welfare?”

“Open your eyes, Dad. Look what ‘we‘ college graduates have created. Look at the poverty in the world, while the American Dream looks the other way. People without food, without housing, clothes or basic drugs, all because of individual and corporate greed, indifference, fear. Yeah. I’m giving up on a lot of things, but not my feelings, my gut feelings, my intuition, my passion, my heart. And you know why? Because I’m better than all the bullsh*t that‘s coming down right now.”

“Hah, you’re better than the rest of us? Right. We’ll see how ‘better’ you are when you’re walking to work because your ‘89 Honda just broke down and you can’t pay the rent. Don‘t call me!”

“Don’t worry, I won’t call you. And I won’t have much, but I’ll feel good about myself. You know why? Because I’ll have the guts to go another way, and I’ll just bet that I’ll find someone who wants to go with me. I’m done chasing after the promised crap that even when I get it is as hollow as the eyes I see every day on worried faces. I’m done with your agenda for me, Dad, I‘m trusting in my heart from now on, I‘m listening to my heart. I know who I am Dad. Do you? I‘m going back to the house, I’ll see you later.”

“Hold on a minute, hold on there. How long have you been thinking this way?”

“For awhile. One day I saw a homeless guy laying on the sidewalk by the Metro Parking Lot. I asked him if he was alright. He looked me in the eyes, right in the eyes, and said, ‘Take a good look, kid, because I am you.’ I didn’t get what he meant right away, but then I got it – we’re all in the same boat, Dad, and I can’t have a bigger seat than the next guy. I just can’t, because my bigger seat makes someone elses seat smaller. I’m sorry.”

“Let’s talk about this, okay?”

“I don’t know if I can talk about it anymore, I just feel it.”

“C‘mon. What you are feeling is compassion, compassion for humanity. And a lot of kids your age go through this. But you’ll get over it, like every kid does because it’s stupid. Look, as a college graduate, you will make lots more money and then you can help humanity and poor starving people even more. Doesn’t that make sense?”

“And lose my soul in the process to the puppeteers, pay off college loans forever? And kick this can we call humanity down the road one more time? You just don’t get it , Dad. My life won‘t change the world, but it will change my world, and I‘ll be true to my heart. How many can say that?”

“Look, you can’t help humanity by not fulfilling your potential. You can only help by doing the best you can, setting the right goals for yourself and going as far as you can. Only then does humanity progress.”

“Bullsh*t.”

“What do you mean; ‘bullsh*t?’”

“Bullsh*t, that’s all. Our ‘potential’ has brought us to the brink of nuclear war over religion, and mass starvation in an abundant world, and you know it. I bet you didn’t even know that half the kids in the world go to bed hungry every night while you and mom are forever trying to lose 30 pounds. You and Mom pretend to know everything, but when you go to sleep at night, you wonder what it’s all about. I know you do. The difference between you and me is that I’m going to find out what it’s all about, and already, at sixteen, I know what it’s not about.”

“Oh yeah? And what’s it not about?”

“It’s not about getting more and more. It‘s not about struggling with goals to make my life easier, or make me famous, or make me better than the next guy. It’s not about setting goals to avoid pain, which is the only reason anyone would set a goal anyway. Sh*t dad, it’s about giving. Don’t you get it? People want more and more, making bigger and better goals to help themselves. They don’t even know who they are anymore, or what their true feelings are. Their hearts are dead. They are just puppets with someone yanking their strings as they dance all over the place. Their lives are all crooked and distorted, being encouraged to want more and more as if they don‘t already have enough. What kind of pressure is that? I’ve had it, Dad. I don‘t need to take any goal pills to ease the pain of not having enough. How much is enough? How much is enough, Dad? You know what? Getting more and more comes from being afraid. Are you afraid Dad? Well, I’m not.”

“You haven’t lived long enough to be afraid, Son. I’ve taken care of you. All you can think about is yourself. You’re a spoiled brat. Wait until you’re supporting yourself. You’ll wake up.”

“Oh yeah? Well just watch me wake up. Just watch me and my dead end job, and watch how I pay attention to those that are silently crying out for help, starting right there at my dead end job with all the people I work with who will be scratching out a living with no benefits so the greedy can buy more yachts. And watch how I live in poverty all my life by choice because I won‘t need much. And then watch what happens when I die. Watch all that Dad, and then tell me where I went so wrong. Oh, and another thing; why don’t you tell Christ how stupid he was to live as a pauper and lift up the helpless, and tell the Buddha how off-base he was to live in rags in order to become enlightened. I can’t do your thing Dad. I Can’t keep this insanity going. My road will be a far different road from yours.”

“Well, if you feel so strongly about this, why don’t you just HIT the road, big shot.”

” Go on back to the house and finish your emails, Dad. . . . I want to sit here by myself for awhile.”

Local rock band New Years DC just released their first record on April 20, 2011. After just one day, they have sold over two million cds in stores alone. Online sales were recorded to be around six million cds sold at midnight last night– only twelve hours after the release.

The band started in the summer of 2009 in lead singer Sam Holden’s garage in Point North, Alabama. At the time, the band had no name. It was just three friends: Sam Holden (lead singer & bass guitarist), Mac Robertson (lead guitarist), and Fillip Stagman (drummer). At first, they just played for fun. Then, Fillip Stagman’s sister decided to record a video of the band performing their most famous song, New Years Eve in DC. She uploaded the video to Youtube, and they became a world-wide sensation over night.

About six months later, in the spring of 2010, the band decided to call themselves New Years DC.

They began performing at small local venues and festivals for free. Eventually, they started getting offers to be paid to perform at birthday bashes and private parties all over the United States. Since none of the guys had full-time jobs or were in college, they figured they had nothing to lose. “We were being paid to play outside of the garage. It was awesome,” says Holden.

Then, there big break came. The band was asked to write a song exclusively for the Colorado Vans Warped Tour and debut it at the concert in the fall of 2010. Holden cunningly says, “Everyone asks what the story behind the song dc new year’s is. Well, that’s it. Vans asked us to write for them, and we did. That’s all she wrote– no pun intended.”

Six different record companies came up to the band right after their performance with offers.

Since the band had no manager at the time and planned to go back to Alabama the next day, the guys talked details and signed a deal that same night. After four months of recording, the record was finally released yesterday. So, go out and buy the New Years DC album!

People whose first language is English are apt to be complacent about its pre-eminence. English is seen as indomitable ruling the worlds of business, science and entertainment. Yet in The Last Lingua Franca, Nicholas Ostler serves up a bold corrective to Anglo-centrism and its familiar flag-waving myopia
Ostler, a Briton who chairs the Foundation for Endangered Languages, opens with the provocative statement that the decline of English, when it begins, will not seem of great moment
Ostler gives an account of the fluctuating fortunes of other major world languages. In each case their majesty has proved fragile. For instance, the might of Persian, established over a period of almost a thousand years, was shaken to its foundations in just 16. If we imagine that the supremacy of English will endure forever, says Ostler, we are guilty of both memory failure and a signal lack of imagination
Today, were told, English offers an entry card to the worlds Executive Club. But sceptics suggest that its prospects are tainted by its association with Britains exploitative past and Americas recent taste for political interventionism
Worriers allege that the diffusion of English must lead to its break-up: it will develop in many directions, its various new forms in the end becoming mutually unintelligible
Ostler contends that the future promises something quite different: a new linguistic world order, in which China, India, Russia and Brazil, increasingly dominant economically, will discover that they can secure their positions in the global marketplace without recourse to English. The international form of the language will evaporate, and English will revert to being spoken only in its native heartlands. Those heartlands will be less important politically and commercially
Usually, anyone who argues that Englishs position is insecure proposes that some other language most likely Spanish or Mandarin Chinese will supersede it. Yet Ostler takes the view that by around 2050 no global lingua franca will be needed. To a large extent, this will be thanks to technology, for example as improved machine translation will make more languages mutually accessible
Yet while he writes with engaging crispness, at times the text becomes forbiddingly technical, and one can lose oneself in a thicket of thorny names and bristling verbiage
Ostlers arguments are cogent and alarming. Yet he leaves us with a salutary thought: while the world can today seem flat and homogenous, and while a language dies out every fortnight, many distinct tongues persist, and in them survives a rich miscellany of traditions, histories and nuances of human character(Information derived from the network)

Live music gives a great atmosphere to any evening, and often feels more personal than a DJ. There are a wide range of bands for hire in all areas of the country from soloists to big bands, performing everything from classical to Motown, rock and even tribute acts!

Finding local bands for hire can be tricky, and a good way to find performers near you is to look through an entertainment agency. Searching online is a great way to find either a small local entertainment agency, or a larger nationwide one which has performers all over the country. When searching for bands for hire or considering what kind of band you would like, there are some important points to take into consideration.

Firstly, you must think about your venue, and the size of the space which will be available for performers to use. A big band may be great in a large hired hall, but would not work well for a smaller garden party! Bear in mind that they may also need room for instruments, stands and cases, so it is always worth doing a little research and checking exactly how much room is available, compared to how much room certain sized bands will need. A good entertainment agency should be able to talk you through this and advise you if the bands you like will be suitable for the space that you have available.

The type of music that you require will also depend greatly on the style of the event you are planning. Swing music may be perfect for your parents’ fiftieth wedding anniversary, whereas a large summer garden party may benefit from a steel band to create a party atmosphere! Again, discussing bands for hire with a large entertainment agency will give you an idea of what is available and what would work best for your event. The amount of time that each band will perform for can vary greatly, so it is also a good idea to check this before you book. Most bands will play for two sets of forty five minutes, with a break in the middle. This is important to research, as you may have to provide music or additional entertainment to fill this gap, or to use after they have finished playing. Some bands for hire may play recorded music whilst they take a break, so it is always important to check this detail before your event, otherwise you may end up with a silent gap during performances!

Bands for hire can be a great way to add a fun and memorable touch to any event that you organise, and it is important to discuss the details with their booking agency before you commit to your choice of band. This will also help to settle on a price that you are happy with, which will cover all aspects of the band’s performance, and ensure that you can relax during your event and enjoy the performance with your guests!
